Formally held since 1959, which was only an eight team tournament, the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship is a fast growing and very exciting Dual Career Pathway for qualifying Soccer Student Athletes. With the Championship and Semi Final rounds referred to as the College Cup, all teams crowned as their respective Conference Champion are granted a birth in the NCAA Division I National Championship.
Another of the twelve sports added to the NCAA roster during the landmark 1981-1982 season was Women’s Collegiate Soccer.

Initially a twelve team tournament, there are now over 100 teams competing in NCAA Division I, II and III events. The most successful teams in the history of College Soccer have been St. Louis with 10 titles during their 1959-1973 dominance with Virginia, a more modern day powerhouse with 7 titles since 1989. Note, soccer is played in over 90% of the college institutions making it a sport with over 4000 programs for both men and women.
