Sending your son or daughter to the United States of America on a Scholarship is a huge decision with a long list of matters that need to be considered! To try and start you off, we have provided some FAQs and included our core values for your reading.
We have seen this before. What makes you so different to any other College Recruitment Company?
Athletes Dream has a proven track record of delivering Full Scholarships to NCAA D1, NCAA D2, NCAA D3, NAIA and the NJCAA. We know exactly what it takes to meet the requirements for any Division or Conference in any sport. We take the time required to educate you on the realistic expectations and timelines before you make any decisions.
If I do not receive a Scholarship, will my money be refunded?
No. (Although we are governed by the NCAA rules) You will be working with Athletes Dream based on the expectations that have been developed for your son or daughter prior to commencing the recruitment process. Furthermore; under the governance of the NCAA, we are not permitted to refund money for services attached to the ‘Use of Agents’ as outlined in the NCAA rules & regulations. Athletes Dream complies with the rules and regulations of NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA. We respect their rules and regulations to ensure Academic & Athletic eligibility is maintained for Student Athletes. Athletes Dream has an Athlete Representation Agreement that outlines the excerpt from the NCAA below:
**12.3.3 Athletics Scholarship Agent. [A] Any individual, agency or organization that represents a prospective student-athlete for compensation in placing the prospective student-athlete in a collegiate institution as a recipient of institutional financial aid shall be considered an agent or organization marketing the individual’s athletics ability or reputation.
***22.214.171.124 Talent Evaluation Services and Agents. [A] A prospective student-athlete may allow a scouting
service or agent to distribute personal information (e.g., high school academic and athletics records, physical statistics) to member institutions without jeopardizing his or her eligibility, provided the fee paid to such an agent is not based on placing the prospective student-athlete in a collegiate institution as a recipient of institutional financial aid. Do Colleges pay you to find Student Athletes?
No. This would breach NCAA rules and regulations for both parties; the College and Athletes Dream.
What is your success rate?
Check out our Success Barometers on our Home Page. Expectations are critical in USA/Canadian College Recruitment. When entering the process of being recruited one family may require a full scholarship while the next family can afford to fund substantial out of pocket expenses. Athletes Dream builds an expectation with every family around Academics, Athletics and Finances.
What extra expenses are there, even if we acquire a Full Scholarship through Merit, Leadership, Academic & or Athletic aid?
The out of pocket expenses are low when compared to the incredible Athletic, Academic and Social experiences that are being gained by the Student Athlete. Experiences that will serve them for life. On an annual basis flights to and from home (possibly twice per year), visa, health insurance, cell phone and extra spending money for those ‘College Kid’ essentials like Protein Powder or Cinema Tickets is ideal.
Are there specific subjects I need to study to qualify for North American Colleges?
To qualify for the NCAA? Yes. To maximize how many options you have, you must comply with the NCAA Core-Subjects criteria that outlines the requirements for Academic entry into the NCAA DI, DII and DIII. The details of the NCAA Core-Subjects can be found here. Other governing bodies such as the NAIA and the NJCAA have less rigorous Academic criteria.
Do I need to graduate from High School to qualify for North American Colleges?
Yes. Proof of High School graduation is the absolute minimum Academic entry criteria to enter College in the United States of America. To qualify for the NJCAA or NAIA you must graduate High School in the Top 50% of your graduating High School year, have maintained a GPA of 2.0 or higher (50% average subject score) and or gain an 860 on the SAT. If you are required to take the TOEFL you need a minimum score of 65+. It is never too early to start being recruited and it is ideal to begin considering this pathway from your Freshman Year of High School (9th Grade). Student Athletes in North America are constantly watched by College Coaches, while International Student Athletes gain no attention unless you are strategically placing your profile into the hands of the right College Coaches. Given the significant Academic component attached to your Athletic Scholarship, it is never too early to start with regard to University Applications as there are always deadlines to adhere too.
